After a long cross-country drive, I find myself again in beautiful Southern Utah.  Here is a picture I took last year in Zion National Park:

It's great to be back here and I can't wait to get started.  So far, we have a fabulous team of Scenic Charge Artist Katie Fry and her Assistant Jennifer Blazek, and Scenic Artists Natalie Lape, Daina Cramer and Me, and Junior Kelsey Lueken.

We are doing three shows in the Randall Theater:  The Music Man, Noises off and The Glass Menagerie all designed Jo Winirarski.  The designs are elegant and I am excited to see them realized.

One of our first projects is the portal for Music Man which consists of signs about River City.

We made transparencies of the rendering and projected them onto pieces of MDF already cut to shape.  Line up your center and data lines, and double check the heights of letters with a scale rule against the rendering, but also the far left and right to make sure the projector isn't turned ever so slightly.

The fonts were fun and there were plenty of curly cues and the like.

Here we are rapping up our awesome production of The 39 Steps.  It's a massive show with lots of elements and finishes including antique gold, lettering (the "vote McCorquodale" sign seen here) and of course, mimicking the architecture of the house.

This is me finishing the gold appliquéd details that adorned the domes of the opera boxes.
